Last week... in review

Random stuff coming your way...

Last week I struggled with my highspeed (and still am).  One of the joys of living in the country with lots of trees and only wireless highspeed available. If anything made me pack up and move to the city, it would be this. But I love where we are too much - so we will just deal with it :)

Last week, when I was hoping to finish staining the pool shed - instead it snowed and snowed and snowed. Yes, it is April but apparently Mother Nature felt like snow. Thankfully it has since melted.

Another random... not so good thing about last week - 4 days after getting her first hair cut -  Chloe decided that she needed a bit more off the top - so found some dull scissors and did this lovely trim to the middle of her bangs. She also managed to hack off some from the side above her ear. Yes, she keeps us hoppin. She is pretty cute though, regardless of the new, silly bangs.

Keaton went to his best buddy Curtis' birthday party... the one he has been talking about for a month. Needless to say, it ROCKED. I didn't get photos :)

Henry the dog keeps growing. He is about 48-50 lbs now and I think will be the size he stays at (I hope!) His favourite days are when it is just me and him... I work on the computer - he lies under my feet. Any dogs favourite past time, right?

A call out for support...

Our community has been really touched by a little girl  - Lauren Gillie and her brave fight. She was just recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. She is FIVE years old, guys. It is very upsetting to everyone that knows their family and we are all really routing for her. She is traveling daily 2+ hours on the go-train up to Toronto for her chemo & radiation treatments. Her parents, Jen and Glenn Gillie are wonderful people (I know Jennifer from highschool and gymnastics) and you can only imagine the emotions and stress involved. There is a fundraiser being held next Friday night. I realize that many of the people that visit my blog are not in the Belleville area (or even in Canada for that matter) but I also know most of you are mothers and I wanted to put the links here and ask for anyone who feels that they can... to please support this little girl. Her parents are missing work, the costs are adding up and our community is rallying together to try and take some of the burden off their shoulders... they need to concentrate on spending this time with their little girl and helping her beat very tough odds. As her dad has said on their website Lauren Gillie, if anyone can beat these odds it is this beautiful little girl.

On her site, you should be able to find a link for updates that her dad journals in when he has time. Also on the site is a link to the fundraiser. If you would like to support the little girl and her family - you can purchase a $10 (or more) ticket to her dance and then just indicate in the pull down menu that you cannot attend but want to support her. There is also a button if you'd just like to leave a donation. Payment is safe and easy through paypal and I can only hope that we can raise plenty of money to help this precious girl and her family.

Easter Sunday

Can you say COLD!?

The Easter Bunny hid yummy chocolates and jube jube bunnies but they were FROZEN when the kids brought in their baskets of collected goodies. Given some time to unthaw though... the kids thought the bunny brought excellent treats for them to find.

It was so cold gathering up the eggs. I was out there in my house coat and night gown (good thing we live in the country) trying to get photos of my frozen children. They both ended up running inside for coats and then K ran inside again b/c his hands were frozen solid.

It was colder at Easter than it was at Christmas. WEIRD.

Happy Easter

Today we had a busy morning getting ready for the Whyte family Easter dinner. Aunt Betty and Charlie hosted. I baked the ham to take as well as my homemade macaroni and cheese. The house smelled wonderful all day long :)

I snapped a few photos of the kids before we left for the party. Chloe was more cooperative than Keaton for once. It was actually sprinkling snow outside when I started to try and get a photo so we had to go inside because they were "freezing". Snow on Easter ... sigh. Oh well, make the most of it, right.

Aunt Betty's party was fun and busy and loud and happy. I didn't manage a single photo so you'll have to take my word for it ;)

Hope your Easter Weekend is wonderful. Tomorrow we have plans for the Lightfoot celebration and church on Sunday... other than that an Easter Egg hunt is most likely in the near future and probably some chocolate feasting too!

Snip Snip

Chloe finally had her first hair cut yesterday. She is well on her way to 4 yrs old and I just got around to taking her in to my hairdresser. She was super excited to go and was so good. She got to sit on a pony booster seat and was so serious the whole time she was getting her hair cut, only cracking a smile to the mirror when she thought no one was looking. It was just a trim and I think they took 1-2" off. I wanted it long enough to be able to keep doing braids and pony tails too. She got 2 lollipops when she was done and I think the only words she said the whole time we were there were "THANK YOU" when we left.

On our way home we picked up Anna for a play date. Chloe loves being around Anna and they had a great time outside in the sprinkling rain.

Kindergarten Registered

How on earth did she get old enough to be going to Kindergarten soon? WAH?! I went in to school today and finally registered her. She is so looking forward to starting school and it is her only motivator for quitting sucking her thumb. She says she'll quit when she goes to big school ;)
