So ready for "Lost"

Anyone else dying to see Lost start on Thursday? I prefer the Wednesday time slot but who am I to complain. I am a huge Lost fan even though at the end of every episode, I feel more "lost" than when the show began... perhaps that is the point. It has been so long since the season finale last year that I need to refresh my memory. I found this video - All you need to know about the show "LOST" in  8 minutes 15 seconds. I can't even remember how last  season ended other than Charlie drowning.

I cannot wait til Thursday!

Little girls love to bake

Sometime around Christmas, when we were baking cookies and things more than usual... Chloe caught the baking bug. Pretty much every day since Christmas she asks if we can bake something. It has to be something sweet. Today she had her buddy Adison over for the afternoon and they baked cherry chip cupcakes with super sweet pink icing. They added yellow sprinkles for the finishing touch. Adi took half the batch home and we kept the rest.

The 2 of them were covered in icing by the time they were done, and they had a great time frosting them... there was a lot of spoon licking going on.

Regarding the Minnie Mouse outfit... this is another daily thing for her. Her reasoning: "Minnie Mouse is my best friend you know Momma?!" So, she pays homage to her every day. She also knows Minnie is a cookie and cake bakin' fool... just like Chlo.

This time we are going to need more than a trim...

Yes, Chloe did it again. She cut her hair except this time it was drastic. Always a girl of action, when she got tired of the pretty 'ballerina bun' she had for a hair-do... she found scissors and promptly cut it out. What is she trying to do to me? After the initial shock (I admit I laughed about it once I got over the fact that our sink was full of her hair) wore off, we together devised a plan to fix her hair - we'd have to call the hair dresser and get a cut. I took her to Karen the next afternoon and she got a bob style haircut - she says she looks like me - but mostly she is happy because she says she now has a hairdo like her cousin and good buddy Erin.

I didn't manage any photos of the number she did on her hair. Basically it looked like a rats-nest. Long in places and short in others, sticking out in places it shouldn't. She looks really cute (although much older) with her new 'do. I took this photo of her today at Keaton's hockey game. Keep in mind she had her knit toque on for an hour before this photo... so imagine it nicely brushed and ever so sheek.

I'm so thankful Karen fit us in so quickly to fix the hack-job and I'm also so thankful Chloe didn't cut herself with the scissors. I guess I need to hide them (again) in a better spot.

15. What do you do to vent anger? Get grumpy with those I love the most. Not a good thing! Luckily I seldom have things worth being angry about.
16. What was your favourite toy as a child? Probably something arts related. I remember a sit and spin as a kid that I loved to ride on though.

39. Do you have a house phone that is not cordless? Yes, and I hate the thing.
40. 10 inches of snow or 100 degree weather? If I’m at the beach, 100 degrees please. If not, I ‘d rather be cold than sweating like a pig.

34!!!

My sweet hubby turns 34 today. Just a quick shout out to him to say Happy Birthday.

To celebrate we did pretty much nothing :) We grabbed some groceries for his requested Birthday supper... steak, potato & shrimp royale. The kids helped me bake a marble cake with chocolate icing... and we rented "Evan Almighty"... in which I fell asleep to. I'll have to watch the rest of it in the morning, just tired out from a late night yesterday in Toronto with friends.

Low key birthday for my man, on my favourite day of the week... perfect. I love you Shaune :)

Fun times...

sewing? Sewing is fun? I have to say that yes it is. Kerri & I had so much fun last night at our first sewing class. She chose a child's apron to make for her first sewing project. For my first ever sewing project (since Home Ec class back in Grade 8) I chose to make valance curtains for my 2 windows in my kitchen. Kinda ambitious probably but the valance is basically a rectangle and held on a rod by clips so I got my curtains about 2/3 done last night. I will finish them up at our next class next Wednesday and then I will FINALLY have some window treatments in the downstairs of our home... then there will be no stopping me. The fabric is a pistachio green and a walnut brown. I hope it will look good in my green, red and white kitchen :)

What should I make next? Thought of trying to make Chloe a pillowcase dress. I also need a cushion cover for my chair in the kitchen. I want to try doing a throw pillow covered in ribbons (think Strano ribbon?). Too many things I want to try, so little time.

It's been a while...

I haven't posted here much in the past few weeks... life is busy and we are getting back into the swing of things with the kids returning to school. The snow is all melting here and I just plain hate it. I either want cold snowy weather or spring... but not muddy wet slushy winter. Chloe fell in a HUGE slush puddle at school yesterday and came home soaked from head to toe. She was quite impressed with  herself, of course ;)

For New Years Eve we got hotel rooms in at the Ramada and the kids had a blast. Our friends and their children also had rooms on each side of us so it was a wild place but better it be at a hotel than at my house. lol. We took the kids swimming and I even tried out the waterslide. Can you say SPLASH?! The kids dined on pizza and the adults ordered in delicious chinese food. New Years Eve and Chinese food just go so good together. We watched Hannah Montana ring in the New Year and the kids made a huge racket blowing their horns. It was a fun night.

After New Years, I got together for a girls night out with my buddies. We don't do it often enough but it was fun. We laugh so much when we are all together. We went to Tomaso's and had italian... it was good. Mel treated me afterwards to the best Dessert Coffee I've ever tasted... Tim Horton's coffee with Frangelico liquer and whipped topping. It was too die for, just like everything Melissa makes.

We finally have our Christmas tree down and a little more room in the house again. I am feeling motivated to make our house less cluttered and more "us" in the coming year... keeping the things that are truly our signature look and ridding ourselves of things that just make our house smaller and less personal. It always feels good to closet clean = Shaune got rid of 2 bags of dress clothes he had either worn out or didn't like anymore. He has a whole new wardrobe for work and I must say he is looking damn fine lately in his new clothes ;)

I am starting a sewing class tonight. Yikes. It should be interesting. I think I'm going to make a pillowcase dress as my first project. Did I mention I have no idea how to sew on anything but scrapbook pages? I'll let you know how it goes. My friend Kerri is doing the classes too so we can drive together and it should give us some laughs, if nothing else.
