Keaton + Track

I didn't manage my camera for either of Keaton's recent track events. 2 weeks ago Foxboro held their Track & Field events and Keaton entered 100, 200 and long jump. He did really well and placed 1st in 100, 1st in 200 and 2nd in long jump. He moved on to the ASG track meet at Mary Ann Sills track in Belleville and competed last week on what surely must of been one of the hottest days of Spring on record. Man I felt sorry for the kids running in that heat and humidity. He managed and did great, competing against a bunch of other schools from the surrounding areas. He placed 1st in 200m and got 2nd in 100m after another boy took the 1st spot by a hair. He did great in long jump too but not 1st or 2nd so he will not move on in that one.

Next up is District where he'll compete again in the 100m and 200m. He is excited to go.

We are so proud of you Keaton. I knew those wheels of yours would take you far in track events!

Another amazing weekend

Another weekend has come and gone. Why can't every day be like the weekends are? We managed to get SOME work done around the house. Our pool area is so much work, if I had it to do over again I would of paid for even more cement and forgone the 5 huge spots I left 'available' for potential garden magic to happen. There aint no magic happening. I do not have a green thumb nor the time for weeding any of them. We have 2 finished and 3 to go. Did I mention this is our 3rd year with the pool and we are still working on gardens? Pathetic. It's just not our thing.

So, other than gardening and weeding some we had a busy whirlwind weekend. I taught a photography workshop at Sweet Sentiments scrapbook store in Belleville. It was on Saturday morning. In the afternoon we enjoyed some time with Shaune's side of the family celebrating Uncle Bob's 70th birthday. Sunday we enjoyed the pool and the kids went to cousin Cole's birthday party for the afternoon. From there we headed out for some fun and supper with my mom and Deb at the family trailer. The kids just love it there and it isn't much wonder. There is so many fun things to do and they love that they can ride their bikes around, a luxury they don't get to enjoy at home because they are too young to just go peddling off just yet. They love the trampoline raft down at the beach area and they went for a second swim just as the sun was starting to set... what a blast they had.

 

Mom gave Meg a splash in the trailer kitchen sink. We used to do this with Keaton when we had our trailer in the County many moons ago. She thought it was great fun!

 

 

 

 

As we drove home that evening we witnessed a beautiful sunset and the sky was just so beautiful reflecting down into the water... I got Shaune to stop the truck so I could hop out on the bridge and take a shot. MMM. Here's to many glorious weekends this coming summer!

My Mother's Day

 We had a low key Mother's day and all I asked for was that my kids got along and were nice to each other all day. LOL! Seriously, they did pretty good and we had a fun afternoon and evening. We road tripped around on back roads through Stirling and over to Tweed and hit our favourite cheese factory for curd and maple fudge. For supper we drove to Madoc and hit our favourite little restaurant called "Madoc Dairy" for their decadent homemade wedge fries with lotsa ketchup! We ended up in Belleville at the Quinte Conservation Area for an evening hike and it was the highlight of our day. It is quite nice in there and Keaton and Chloe love discovering new places to walk trails. Meg tagged along in her little umbrella stroller because we'd left our big-wheel stroller at home in the garage. She thought it was fun bumping long the grass trails.

The kids gifted me with sweet homemade cards and fun little crafts they made at school - I love those! The best gift of all was just spending the day... the 5 of us doing the things we love to do. It was my first mother's day with 3 children in the roost and I was reminded all day of how amazing it is to have all three of them in my life. I'm one lucky momma.

Running...

Keaton loves to run, he has for as long as he could walk. Starting in Grade 4, the kids are allowed to join track and field along with other team sports. Keaton signed up for Relay racing a few months back and has been so dedicated with up to 5 practices a week... some as early as an hr prior to the start of school. He was on a team with 3 other boys his age and loved it. Last week they ran the 800m long distance relay along with the Medley sprint relay in Wellington. They ran hard but didn't place in the top 3 in either race. Yesterday was the District relays and tons of children and schools were there running the 100m relay. Keaton's relay team placed 3rd and moved on to the semi finals where they did great but placed 4th (I think) and didn't move on to the finals. Keaton is so fast and tried his best. He was definetly in his element. Now, he is counting the days til individual 'track and field' events start and he says he is signing up to compete in: Long Jump, 100m run & 200m run.... anything involving SPEED.

I managed somehow to remember my camera for a change and pulled it out for a few minutes in the bright sun of mid day. The photos aren't great but Keaton likes them and will have them to remember the day.

Next one... shoot - it's blurry :( I guess he was running too fast ;)

PS: Keaton got his hair cut as you can see. Cuteness!
