Keaton... the kid that didn't talk 'til he was in speech therapy at 2 1/2 years old can give a pretty good speech now-a-days. It is hard to believe there was ever a time that he struggled and it is even harder to believe that he wasn't very nervous at all to do it.
Keaton wrote a speech about our summer trip to Nova Scotia. He read it in his class and was then selected to read it with some other students from his school in front of judges and students in his school auditorium. From there he was selected to represent his age group at the Legion competition. He was the only Grade 5 from his school and we were very proud of him for this accomplishment.
We got there early and so he lucked out (ha) with the first spot of the day. When I was a kid that would of thrown me in to a complete panic. Actually, as a 10 year old I do not recall having to do public speaking at all, thank goodness! Keaton seemed okay with going first and maybe it was nice to just get up, talk and get it over with.
He did great. He stood up infront of a room full of strangers and 3 judges at the back of the room and he DID it! We beamed with pride and clapped at the end of his speech. He took some seashells he collected in Nova Scotia and worked them into his speech as funny props. See that lobster claw... he made sure he got to pick it up and show it off while he talked.
Keaton - you amaze us. You are one terrific kid - keep up the great work.
wtg Keaton, you did a great job, no wonder mommy and daddy are so proud of you! xo
